Frequently Asked Questions

Sauna, steam, cold plunge, and contrast therapy involve exposure to heat, cold, water, and changing temperatures. Guests are responsible for participating within their own comfort level.

Listen to your body, stay hydrated, take breaks, and exit any amenity if you feel dizzy, faint, nauseated, unusually short of breath, experience chest pain, numbness, confusion, or otherwise feel unwell.

Always follow posted safety guidelines and staff instructions.

Is NORDHAVN safe for everyone?

Heat, cold, and rapid temperature changes may not be appropriate for everyone.

We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider before participating if you are pregnant or may be pregnant, have a heart or cardiovascular condition, uncontrolled high or low blood pressure, a history of fainting or seizures, circulation or significant respiratory conditions, a recent surgery or injury, or another condition that could be affected by heat or cold.

NORDHAVN does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Should I talk to my healthcare provider before visiting?

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. All guests must review and accept NORDHAVN's participation agreement and waiver before using the facilities.

The agreement covers the inherent risks associated with sauna, steam, cold plunge, water, and contrast therapy, along with our safety expectations and guest responsibilities.

Participation at NORDHAVN is voluntary.

How old do you have to be to visit NORDHAVN?

Guests must be 16 or older to use NORDHAVN's sauna, steam room, cold plunge, and contrast-therapy amenities.

Guests ages 16–17 must have a parent or legal guardian complete the required consent and waiver before participating. Additional supervision or restrictions may apply to guests under 18.

When should I stay home?

Please postpone your visit if you have an active contagious illness, an open or draining wound, or another condition that could create a health or sanitation concern for other guests.

We appreciate everyone helping us protect our shared space.

Can I visit after drinking alcohol?

No. Guests should never use NORDHAVN's sauna, steam room, cold plunge, or other wellness amenities while impaired by alcohol, recreational drugs, or another substance that could interfere with their ability to participate safely.

What should I wear?

Proper swimwear is required throughout NORDHAVN's sauna, steam, cold plunge, shower, and recovery areas.

NORDHAVN is not a clothing-optional facility. Robes and towels may be worn in appropriate areas between sessions.

What is the etiquette of NORDHAVN?

NORDHAVN is designed to feel calm, welcoming, and restorative. Please respect other guests' space and privacy, keep conversations at a considerate volume, and follow designated quiet-area guidelines.

Phone use should be limited in wellness areas, and guests may never photograph or record another person without permission.

Disruptive, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, sexual, or unsafe behavior is not permitted.

Exit the sauna, steam room, cold plunge, or other amenity immediately and let a NORDHAVN team member know.

Rest, hydrate, and do not continue your session if you are experiencing dizziness, faintness, nausea, unusual shortness of breath, chest pain, numbness, confusion, or other concerning symptoms.

If staff reasonably believe emergency assistance is necessary, emergency medical services may be contacted.

What if I feel unwell during my visit?

Do I need to shower before using the amenities?

Yes. Good hygiene helps us keep NORDHAVN clean and comfortable for everyone.

Please shower before entering the cold plunge and follow posted showering instructions throughout your visit. Guests should also rinse or shower as directed when moving between sauna, steam, and shared water amenities.

Can I use my phone at NORDHAVN?

We encourage you to disconnect while you're here.

Phone use should be limited in designated wellness areas, and quiet or sanctuary spaces should remain free from unnecessary distractions. Photography or recording of another guest without their permission is never allowed.

Do I have to follow a specific contrast-therapy routine?

Not at all. There is no perfect routine and no pressure to keep up with anyone else.

Move through sauna, steam, cold, and recovery at your own pace. Stay in each space only as long as you're comfortable, take breaks, hydrate, and skip anything that doesn't feel right for you.

Your experience is yours.
